Reverse SIP Calculator
A Reverse SIP / Lumpsum Calculator determines the amount that can be withdrawn periodically or the total corpus that can be generated based on an initial investment and expected rate of return. More info →
Input
Enter your target amount and expected return.
How This Calculator Works
This calculator starts from the amount you want to end up with and works backwards. It shows two ways to get there: a one-time lumpsum invested today, or a fixed monthly SIP.
The Formulas
Lumpsum = Target ÷ (1 + r)t
Monthly SIP = Target ÷ {[(1 + i)n − 1] ÷ i × (1 + i)}
Monthly SIP = Target ÷ {[(1 + i)n − 1] ÷ i × (1 + i)}
r = annual return ยท t = years ยท i = annual return ÷ 12 ยท n = years × 12 (nearest whole month)
What Each Input Does
- Target Amount
- The amount you want to have at the end.
- Expected Return (%)
- The yearly return you expect. A higher return means you need to invest less.
- Duration (Years)
- How long until you need the money.
Step by Step
- Lumpsum: the target is discounted back to today at the yearly return.
- SIP: the target is divided by the growth of 1 invested at the start of every month.
- Both amounts are rounded to the nearest whole amount.
Reading the Result
Lumpsum or SIP โ either one alone should reach the target, if the expected return is achieved.
Quick Example
Target 1,000,000 in 10 years at 12%. You need either a
lumpsum of 321,973 today or a monthly SIP of 4,304.
